About Dante Alighieri

Dante Alighieri was a Florentine poet and politician who was exiled from his city in 1302 and never returned. In exile he wrote the Divine Comedy, an epic journey through Hell, Purgatory and Paradise, which helped make the Tuscan dialect the basis of modern Italian.
